Having trouble sleeping tonight. Charcoal, graphite and chalk self portrait. The last time I picked up even a pencil to draw anything was at least 3 years ago. Felt good to get back into it :)

The challenges of doing this shoot reminds me of why I love doing still life photography. Jewelry offers every issue in the book — but the outcome is always beautiful. Very proud of this project. Shot with Jay Wen! ( http://www.realitycoma.tumblr.com )

Eyes can lead a person into your soul. Sometimes I want people to get lost in my soul.

“From the Archives”

One of my original surreal projects where I took portraits of my friends (this one being my ex) ad replaced their heads with utensils. I need to go back and re-edit these

I decided to take this past week off from my project. I took a mini vacation to my parents place. While here I’ve been going through my “archives” of my art work that I left behind when I moved out. It astonished me just how much of this work that I actually forgot about. The image above are a mini collection of a bunch of self portraits that I’ve done. To this day if I want to use a model for myself, I usually use me. It has nothing to do with being vain, it’s more of a study of seeing how I view myself. Going through all of this work (most of it well over 10 years old) I’m surprised at how I used to see me, and what I thought me was at the time. With my surreal project, I’m glad that I’ve still held onto that. Exploring the confusing surface which is my brain. :)
